Behind The Brand
For more than 15 years, I've had the privilege of doing women's makeup. And when you spend that much time sitting across from women with a makeup brush in your hand, you hear a lot more than "Can you make my eyes pop?"
You hear women apologising for their skin.
Saying they look awful without makeup.
Pointing out everything they wish they could change.
Comparing themselves to other women.
And that honestly broke my heart.
Because I know what I see when I look at these women. I see beauty, personality, strength, uniqueness and so much more than the things they are busy criticising.
That's why I created SHOOSH.
Because I believe every woman needs to be reminded of the truth about who she is. And sometimes, girl, you need someone to tell you straight... stop letting those lies have so much power over how you see yourself.
The comparison, the insecurity, the "I don't look good without makeup", the "I'm not good enough"... we've got to stop letting those thoughts shame us into hiding, shrinking or questioning who we are.
Those lies don't get to define you. They don't get to shame you. And they definitely don't get the final word.
That's what SHOOSH is here to remind you of. Every time you look in the mirror.
Makeup should be fun. It should help you enhance what you already have, express yourself and walk out the door feeling fabulous.
Not because you weren't enough before the makeup, but because you were.
